✔️Area of painting
The price of painting largely depends on the area of the wall. A small project can take as much time as a large one, so the cost per m² for small areas is higher. If the total painting area exceeds 20 m², a flexible pricing policy applies with discounts of 10 to 20% per m².
High-rise works Painting at a height of more than 3 m is always 20-50% more expensive. Ceiling painting also belongs to this category, since such hard-to-reach areas are more difficult and longer to paint. In addition, additional costs for renting a ladder or "goat" are added.
✔️Materials
The base of the wall, its texture and the quality of the surface for painting are also important. Walls painted with acrylic paint, which have an even surface similar to watercolor paper, are most suitable. They are pleasant to work with. However, defective walls, textured wallpaper, bricks, tiles or glossy furniture may not accept paint well, which affects the speed of painting.
✔️Location of the object
The location of the object affects the number of hours spent on the road, as well as the cost of transportation. I often work in the Kyiv region, but it is possible to perform painting throughout Ukraine. Travel time and accommodation are included in the total cost.
✔️Irregular work schedule
Work on weekends, nights, outside normal working hours and urgent projects affect the price. Large projects require more artists on site, which increases the cost of painting by 25-50%.
✔️Discounts on the amount of work A discount of 10% applies to the amount of work over 10 m².
Materials for wall painting are selected depending on the execution technique. Most often, artistic or construction acrylic is used. This water-based material blends perfectly with the wall, dries quickly, which speeds up the work process. Acrylic paint is easy to apply, it can be washed, and it does not burn out in the sun for a long time. Made of environmentally friendly materials, acrylic paint does not cause allergic reactions, has no smell and is completely safe for children. In addition, it is affordable and has a wide range of colors. The choice of manufacturers of acrylic paint is large - from the average to the premium segment.
For complex realistic paintings with subtle modeling of forms, oil or tempera are better suited. For outdoor wall painting (graffiti), it is best to use acrylic enamel in cans, which is highly resistant to burning and various types of pollution caused by atmospheric phenomena.
Enamels and two-component paints are indispensable for working with materials such as wood, metal, plastic and glass. Metallics, acrylic markers, potal for gilding, texture pastes, fluorescent and luminescent paints — these additional materials are used depending on the concept of the design project.
For better protection of the surface and at the request of the customer, the painting can be covered with varnish or special wax.
Often in my work, I cooperate with designers and architects who contact me with ready-made projects. My task in such cases is to fit the painting into a specific object, to select all the necessary materials and to perform it qualitatively. This allows you to reduce the cost of artistic painting.
When the client knows exactly what they want and comes with a ready-made image, there is no need to develop a sketch. If the image is of high quality, it is simply transferred to the wall. In cases where the quality of the image is insufficient, it is necessary to refine the details that are not visible in the photo.
Most often, the sketch still needs to be developed. In this case, creating an original sketch can take as much time as the painting itself. This is especially relevant if the sketch needs to be drawn from scratch for a specific interior, taking into account all the client's requirements. The cost of the sketch is included in the total price of the wall painting, but the development from scratch begins after receiving an advance of 10% of the approximate cost of the painting.
In addition, I can make a sample of a fragment of the future painting, which helps to decide on the technique of execution and the main shades.
I know from my own experience that a well-thought-out and approved sketch saves time for painting and guarantees the successful completion of the project. Therefore, I create almost a mini copy of the future painting with visualization in the interior. Usually, the cost of such a sketch is 10% or more of the cost of the finished work.
